rainbows and muffin tops

I had a moderately productive long weekend. Went to get my allergy shots Thursday afternoon. One left a small bruise, the other left a large swollen area. Sexy! Went to class after that. Luckily we did mitt work, but nothing too strenuous. I'm still regaining my momentum.

I took off on Friday to hang out with Leigh. Took Buzz to the vet that morning. His blood sugar was down, but still in the 400s (very high). They upped his dosage again. We'll see next week. He sometimes is still not eating much. I think he picks up on my anxiety, and/or doesn't like being locked in the bathroom. It's easier to monitor how much he eats, as well as give him his shots in there.

Leigh came to my house this time. She petted and tried to take pictures of the cats who were not hiding (like the Terrorists).

The Coltranes hid at first, but came sniffing around after she'd been there for a few minutes. Still skittish, though. We had fun comparing Miles to his brothers, AKA two sacks of flour.

We went to Harmony Lunch®. Good times. I actually had something other than the "skrimp" and vegetables (Kung Po). We also had the required Chinese pizza, as well as the fried "shrimp" appetizer. Oh, I mean cellulite shrimp. Yum. We sat and talked long after lunch was done, then headed over to Targ3t, & BBB. I still didn't find plates, but I did buy $10 ipod speakers that I don't really need. Woo! We then headed to their shop(pe). That place is HUGE! Ate some gummies, talked with Ken about PC crap. Then we went to Old Time Pottery* where I purchased yet another cat bed ($8.88!), but no plates. They had plenty, but most were butt-ugly. Plaid? Chickens?

*I may have the order wrong here. Whatever.

Stacey and I didn't work out. Oh well.

On Saturday, I went to run some errands. Got one pair of pants from K0hl's because they didn't have another color I wanted in my size. Bastards. I got a coupon, so I'll go to another location this weekend, probably. Honestly, I need some pants that fit for work. I have just a few. Some I bought in a larger size and are now too small after being washed. Some are the smaller size and still fit. Some are the smaller size (same brand and style of pants) and are now too small. What the FUCK? I don't get it. Perhaps I should wait another week for that bitch Aunt Flo to be gone. Or not.

I actually got Jeff to go to P@sta B3lla for dinner. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We spent most of that time eyeing the humongous cakes they had on display. You should have seen the icing between the layers! That's my favorite part. I don't want much actual cake. He got a steak and declared it good, but not big enough. Apparently he was starving. It was very noisy there, too. Kids, annoying adults, etc. Maybe we should go later or earlier. Went to the grocery store. Exciting.

On Sunday, B picked me up for an impromptu lunch at M0e's. (Jeff was working on my car.) We then went to the Av3nue and looked in a few stores. We went in Cla!re's and had an 80s flashback. Then the book store & shoe store. I am trying to find some loafer-type shoes for work, as the ones I have are starting to fall apart a bit. I remember those being hard to find (non-leather), so I expect no less this time. We then tried to go to the used book store, but they were closed. (The sign says "open daily"!) On the way there, I had to stop and pee (of course). At the gas station, on the corner, there was an older guy holding a sign and screaming scripture at the passing cars. I said, "Let's drive by and hiss at him!" We didn't, of course. Well, not with the window down. And again, much like the girl on FB I mentioned, what do they hope to accomplish with this? Do they think it actually attracts people to their religion? I don't understand.

We couldn't think of anywhere else to go, so she took me home. Then I finally re-potted the jade plant, which is still in 4 pieces. Oh well. Rather than waste money on a middle sized pot, I just put them all in the big one I already have. Everything looks good so far.

On Monday, I spent probably two hours scrubbing the ceiling and shower in the back bathroom. Stupid mildew. We think some of it was caused by the turbine leak (now fixed). What else? Laundry, finished planting lilies, etc.

I got in my car Tuesday morning and the low tire pressure light was on. Jeff had done my brakes and replaced a tire on Sunday, but he hadn't mentioned the light coming on. So, I wasn't sure if it was due to that, or if a tire was leaking. I checked them all, and they all seemed to be within 10 lbs of where they should be. So I left. I got about 6 miles down the road, and turned around. The thought of getting all the way downtown and having something happen (or worse, on the way to or from) freaked me out. So I panicked, called in, and went home to telework. I really should have called Jeff and woke him up, but oh well. I came home and worked at home because I can. I would have worked at home on Wednesday anyway.

So come to find out, the light came on when he was changing the tire. D'oh.

I screwed up this morning. I was supposed to not feed Buzz because of his blood sugar test. Because he has begun to refuse to eat in the bathroom (he's so sensitive), I put his bowl down in his usual spot in the living room. In the 5-10 seconds it took me to realize what I'd done, he'd already eaten several bites. So, I went ahead and gave him his injection. I guess I'll have to try again tomorrow or on Wednesday when I work at home again. D'oh again.

A rainbow we saw on Sunday.
