fight night

Last week:
We worked out on Tuesday (bi/tri), but not on Wednesday. So, I got on the treadmill. Went to class Thursday, then treadmill again on Friday. As a result, my legs were pretty damn sore. Did both classes Saturday, including a return to the harnesses after weeks of not doing it. Ouch. I managed to jack up my shoulders on the ground and pound, as I'm prone to do. Still sore from that. Got all the details worked out with Kay for that afternoon.

I did manage a 20-30 minute nap. Wasn't enough, though. She picked me up around 4:30. We got to Gainesville with no trouble, then got lost looking for Mo3's. Her GPS maps are out of date. Then we got lost again looking for the venue and parking. Finally found it and got to our seats before the fights started. When we walked up, Clint said, "Oh you came to see me get my ass kicked?" I said, "That's not gonna happen!" And it didn't, really, but he was off. Stacey doesn't think this threw him off, but I think he cut too much weight (10 lbs!). He didn't look like the Clint we're used to seeing in the ring or in class. He seemed ok afterward, frustrated but calm about it. I wasn't sure what to say. Didn't want to seem patronizing. It was his first loss.

Stacey, on the other hand, looked really good out there. Her fight, compared to the other two women's fights, was a completely different animal. They looked like they actually had skills. The others didn't seem to take it seriously, even at weigh in according to Stacey. Two fights before hers, she asked Kay and I to come hang out with her. Just to chit chat and help her keep warm. We did some kicks and mitt work with her, and put her head gear on. She was calm and upbeat. I knew she'd do well. Of course, she saw Clint's fight. She hadn't really watched any up to that point, and we hoped it didn't dampen her spirits. It didn't. (Her intro song was Santogold's Creator, on a disk I'd burned for her. Awesome.)

When it was over, she came up to our seats and hugged people. I told her I was relieved, but I hope she didn't take that the wrong way. I was relieved it was over and she won, and nothing bad happened. It's a bit nerve-wracking to watch your friend do that. But yeah, I KNEW she would do well. I also knew Clint would do well, and his loss didn't seem right or real.

Afterward, we went to IH0P. I was already getting sleepy. I'd eaten a (not very good) pretzel, so I wasn't hungry. We left around 1:30 or so. I managed to stay awake for a while, hoping to talk and help Kay stay awake, who'd been sick early that morning and had gotten less sleep than me. Didn't work. I was too tired to talk when I did manage to stay awake. I nodded off the whole time. (It was weird to see that little traffic on 285.) I didn't get in bed until almost 3:00. And then a nearly identical repeat of Saturday morning occurred. I have filled a water bottle and placed it by the bedroom door. We will be breaking this nasty habit.

I skipped class on Monday. I still felt exhausted from my lack of sleep, was congested, and my neck/shoulder was still hurting from Saturday. Still is today. I did get a little more sleep last night, and using the neti pot has helped with the congestion. I'm wondering if I need to see the chiropractor and/or massage therapist 2 weeks earlier than planned. I sat at my desk and in a meeting on Tuesday, and couldn't find a way to sit that was comfortable. Feels a little better today, though.

One thing that amused me during the fights was the entrance songs. There were at least 4 Metall!ca songs, D!sturbed, Rage Against the Machine (including Clint), etc. Oh, and one dude used Jukebox Hero. WTF? One of the women used this one. It would have been funny/cool, except...it just wasn't.

(We've been jokingly talking about what my entrance song would be if I fought. I thought about Am I Evil, but there's already so much Metallica. Something by Slayer would be good. Angel of Death of South of Heaven? I might have to edit the songs to avoid the long intros. Ain't No Thang by Outkast? BOB? That would be funny.)

The last "girl fight" was welterweight, or 115.1 to 125. Now, I'm terrible at telling size, weight, etc. just by looking, but damn. The shorter woman looked pretty stout, and I probably have 20 lbs on her! I mentioned this to Kay, and she said, "Well, you don't look it." Hmmm. (Yes, I do make everything about my weight.)

I renewed my class fees yesterday. Damn*. I've been nearly emptying my account every month sending as much as I can to the credit card, but I feel like I'll never get it paid down. Guess I'll be sending a chunk of change from the tax refund again. Speaking of, gotta call the accountant.

*They did give me the 20% discount AND 2 free months (14 total). Because I'm speshul. Shh.

fucking cats

Take off that Iron Maiden shirt, you talentless twit! You're going in the cage with the troll.

WANT!

(This is about last week.)
I'm not doing too badly on the exercise front. Tuesday and Wednesday are arms and legs, respectively. Stacey's usually busy doing other stuff in preparation for her fight, but Jess is usually there. If Stacey can't walk, I'll go home and usually get on the treadmill (and/or do chores). I even did that on Friday night because Jess wasn't there and Stacey was busy. We'd have usually done chest, back, shoulders, and abs.

I went in on Saturday, but the first class wasn't much work. There were about 20-30 new people in there as part of some chiropractor's office's Biggest L0ser contest. They're going to a different gym every Saturday for three months, so they'll be there 3 times. Whee. The second class was a lot of bag work, then I sparred with Stacey, doing a sort of tag team thing with Shannon. She kick boxed with Shannon for a round, then she had to avoid my bricks for a round. Jack wanted her to have to deal with my right, but because I'm still not that good at avoiding stuff, she couldn't hit back. Yeah. It was tiring, though. I was VERY aggressive.

I did skip class Monday night. I was tired for some reason. I laid around a lot since I was off, so I'm not sure what happened. I didn't have any caffeine or eph3dra, though, and probably not enough sleep (thanks to Bobby fucking Hill).

I got a free $50 gift card to Kohl's with the express purpose of going to get another pair of these jeans. But now I'm undecided. I have 3 pairs now, two regular, one dark. They are all size 8 to avoid muffin top. But, they're also very loose, to the point of needing a belt. How does that work? I don't know. Maybe I need an odd size at the moment. But I was thinking, if I lose the weight I want to (or at least some of my gut), the same size would be way too big. I may try on size 6 to see if maybe I'm just being silly.

It's just frustrating when even the larger jeans (besides the newest ones) I have seem tight. I know some of it is muscle, like the thighs being tight on the Lev!s I bought about a year ago because they were roomy (comfortable) when I bought them. And the expensive jeans my brother bought me? Not a chance. Even if I lost the gut, my legs and butt are bigger now (I think mostly in a good way). This will make the waist gap vs. thighs/hips issue even more annoying. And if I go to juniors sizes (to try 7), the legs and butt will be even tighter, and the rise even lower. Yuck.

On Wednesday, Stacey and Jess had to work earlier than normal. Stacey wasn't going to work out in order not to risk soreness. So, I got on the treadmill. I think with the running up and down the stairs between sets on Tuesday, and then this on Wednesday, I worked my legs a little too much back to back.

I guess Jeff isn't going with me on Saturday. I asked him if he was worried about the price, or going all the way to Gainesville, and he said both. Whatever. I told him not to worry about the cost, as I'd already bought the tickets. But he still didn't seem to want to go. So, I'll sell his ticket to someone else, and ride with Kay (a lady in my classes).

My Saturday morning:
6:00-6:30 - Bobby fucking Hill starts yelling under the door, and shaking the door in its frame.
6:45 - I get up and feed everyone. Baby won't eat the leftover tuna, even heated. I open a can of cat food.
7:30 - Thea starts raising hell in the hall. She will not shut up. She sounds like a combination of this cat and Stewie here. I get up to run her off (for exactly 60 seconds) and let Baby out of the bathroom.
8:30 - The vet calls with Thea's latest test results. (More on that below.) Last week they called while I was in class and did not wake me up.

I was not going to get any more sleep. Hopefully I can take a nap this afternoon. We have to leave around 4:15.

Thea's results were good after a week of upping her prednisone to every other day. So, we'll stick to that and recheck in a month.

Stacey won, Clint didn't. I'll elaborate later.

gadgets and girly parts

That pic, and those guys, are awesome.

Noooooo!!!!1111oneOMGWTFBBQ!!!!!

Whew. Let's cleanse the palate with awesome.

Where did I leave off? OK, I slacked Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (and Sunday). I believe I had my hormones and sinuses working against me to create a headache that felt like my brain was trying to escape my skull through my right eye socket. Not a migraine, but bad all the same. And I was tired (and starving), another hormonal thing. Stupid PMS. I have no use for you!

Again (still), I'm thinking of having something done, whether it's an IUD or Essur3. Pros - no more worry about drug interactions (antibiotics) or other freak accidents, possible weight loss?, no more daily routine to remember and obsess over. Cons - possible side effects (like the horror stories I've heard about tube-tying), Jeff's possible negative reaction, possible worsening of acne. Hmm. I need to quit procrastinating. I think in the back of my mind I'm hoping for peri-menopause.

I went to get a facial on Friday, and lucked out and got a massage, too. She was scheduled to work there already, and had some time after my facial was done. (I called her a few days before.) A relaxing day, then I come home and have to do my chores.

Speaking of chores, I have discovered the out of the box pee-er (peer?). Baby. I watched her do it! When I happen to be in the kitchen and see one of them go into the shit house, I'll grab the flash light. I'd ruled out the Hill brothers. The others don't like to go in there when someone's in the kitchen. Anyway. We have one of these, which catches it, at least. I'd even bought a new litter box with a slightly higher opening. I was worried Baby might have a hard time climbing in, but she did that part just fine. Old bitch. I guess this, and the food thing, we'll be dealing with until she dies. I can't do too much more to prevent it. A higher box entrance probably won't work for her. It's a pain to have to clean that out every day. But I guess I will continue. No other choice.

On Saturday I felt kind of crappy - headache (still), tired, etc. I didn't get dressed until we went to the grocery store. Same thing Sunday, didn't get dressed until I had to go to PetSm@rt, Targ3t (only one pack of steak strips - bastards), to get gas, and to Publ!x (Tofurky slices!). I played with the GPS. Strange thing - some older businesses (like the Kr0ger where I get gas, and the Publ!x I went to) don't show up, but newer ones do. I couldn't find P, so I looked for businesses around it. The W3ndys has been there for years, but it didn't show. A newer one a few miles away did. I've asked around, and emailed support. I may need a Points of Interest update. Can't do anything until my "travel pack" arrives (USB, case, A/C charger). Anyway, I have a fun new gadget!

Dad called me Sunday afternoon, right before I left to run errands. I was short with him at first, because I was busy. Later I felt bad, because he sounded down. I thought about it as I drifted off to sleep, and decided to call him again on Monday. I did, and he sounded surprised. I told him he sounded down, and I was just checking on him. I think Barb is out of town, too. No, he was still feeling bad, having been sick since xmas. (Sooo lucky I didn't catch anything, as several people there that day got sick later.) I should go visit when I can hang out with him without all the fuss of holidays. Hopefully he can keep the racist remarks to a minimum.

Mondays in class are becoming torturous, not because of my instructor, but because of the number of people. Sheesh. The past two Mondays have had 20+ people. I mean, that room is hot and smelly enough with the 6-8 regulars. And any drills that would usually involve movement are severely limited, as you bump into someone at every turn. Annoying. May not last long. The new ones will probably drop out after the New Year's Resolution glow wears off.

I made the mistake of telling that annoying lady where the fights will be. Well, I told her the city, and that's all I know (which was the truth at the time). She said she'd Google it. Damn. Stacey said she doesn't want her there. I don't, either. She'll be sure to tell Stacey everything she's doing "wrong." Psh. I did talk to Megan, and the tickets are $25 each. Damn. Jeff seemed hesitant about the price. Well, I am, too, but I'm going with or without him. I'm supposed to buy tickets on Thursday, but I'm wondering if I should just get one. I told him he could just give me $25 when he said he didn't really have $50 to spend. Neither do I, really. It should really all go to the credit card (especially since I'm about to have to renew my class fees for another year), but I have to have some fun. And I must be there to see them fight.

holiday finale

Piece of shit. "Neighbors say the Reynolds' dog, "Puppy," wandered over to a New Years gathering down the street and that's when the suspect (who isn't being identified just yet) picked up a sword and brutally attacked the dog." Why? It's not like he's a rape victim.

Keep proving that you're full of shit, Ann. Been to Anniston, AL lately?

WANT!

They gave me a tetanus shot on Tuesday for the cat bite. Couldn't remember when I had the last one. When I asked the doctor if those hurt, he said something like, "Well, for someone as tough as you..." Then the allergy doc gave me a hard time because it hadn't been 24 hours on Wednesday morning. Whatever, just do it. I had no problems with it, after all.

Oh, the doc also tried to guilt me into the pneumonia shot as he did with the flu shot a couple months ago. ("Well, with your asthma...") I didn't know there was such a thing. The nurse told me to get on the scale and I said, "Is that necessary?" She said she couldn't force me, so I said, "Good, I'm not doing it."

Leigh and I hung out on Wednesday (after my allergy shots), but it didn't feel the same. Or something. I can't put my finger on it. I was kind of tired, and had the antibiotic/bc pill worry in the back of my mind. I think she was tired, too, and had her own worries. Don't get me wrong. I always enjoy hanging out with her. I guess we weren't feeling as able to be silly as we have in the past.

We went to Harm0ny Lunch®, then went to the mall to hit B&BW. I couldn't find some of the things I wanted, but I stocked up on warm vanilla sugar plug-in refills. I tried other scents (black raspberry vanilla, kitchen spice) in the bedroom, but they all seemed to be too strong. Come to find out, it may have been the old plug ins I was using. They've redesigned them in the 10 (?) years I've had those, and I think the old ones were getting too hot. The one in the living room even dripped on occasion. And they were probably fire hazards. So I got replacements for $5 each. Not bad.

I went home and we did nothing. Jeff fell asleep on the couch. I tried to wake him up around 11:00, but he squinted at me and went back to sleep. I was in bed by 11:30, asleep not long after that. Whoopdeedoo.

I had a couple drinks and stayed up later on Thursday night as a delayed celebration, sort of. Earlier we went out near the mall to D!ck's. I had a $10 off coupon I was itching to use, but didn't. I'd gotten a couple of these shirts at Sp0rts Auth0rity, and wanted a couple more. They're a little higher than I'm used to paying, but definitely not as high as other stuff. Anyway, they're loose-fitting (hide the gut), lightweight, and black! But D's didn't have them, so he used the coupon on ammo. We went to SA across the street, and they had my shirts. No coupon, though, dammit.

Before lunch on Friday I got a haircut, and of course it was raining. So, my hair poofed up like a blonde afro. I guess had I paid the extra $20 for a blowout, it would just have been frizz. So after that I went to the used book store. Turned in about 6, bought about 3. Couldn't find this one, unfortunately. Maybe I'll get it on eb@y or something.

I only bought one sweater from the consignment shop, then went home and ate leftovers for lunch.

I was meeting B for dinner at M3llow Mushroom, but it ended up being her, the pagan lady and her husband, and a friend of theirs. Eh. I like them, but was looking forward to just me and B. And it was LOUD in there. And the lady said my face looked fuller after I mentioned having gained some weight, most of which is muscle. Nice. Thanks a lot, lady. "You look healthy!" Uh huh. Good thing I took B a lot of what was left of the fudge (and some tea for her sore throat).

On Saturday we made the monthly Whole Paycheck run, and the weekly grocery run. Because Jeff stocked up on meat and chicken, and I bought a probiotic supplement (in case I took the antibiotics), the bill was extra high. As he pointed out, though, I won't have to buy meat for 3 months or so. Still managed to spend over $100 at the weekly place. Laundry detergent and such. Some of my coupons were doubled, though!

I have a hard time with coupons. Not many I get are for what we actually buy. I get the occasional K@shi, Amy's, or Cascad!an Farm coupon, but not often enough to make a difference. The store sometimes sends me personalized coupons, too.

I spent all of Sunday in my pajamas. I finished watching the last of four gun/defense videos my BIL let me borrow, watched my video from Netfl!x (The Handmaid's Tale - oh dear...Aidan Quinn was hot, though), and Metalocalypse. That shit is funny.

Oh yeah. I haven't been to the gym to help train since 12/26. Whatever. They didn't call again. I guess because I didn't want to spar and put on the head gear (Are you staring at my head gear?), they didn't really need my help. (I'm not that good at sparring, or not as good as she is, anyway.) I was a little peeved about it, but it's fine. I just want her to get whatever training she needs. We'll still work out Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but nothing major. She's less than three weeks out, and can't risk injury. And Jeff agreed to go to the fights with me! Well, he said, "I suppose."

I've put Revolut!on on everybody but Polly Prissypants. I need a tranquilizer dart gun or something. I tried once to sneak up, scruff, squirt, and be done with it. As soon as I touched her, she took off, taking a strip out of Jeff's back in the process. Then she hissed at me.
